Afternoon Tea anyone?

I’ve got work to do. A lot of work. It’s got to be done this evening and yet, here I am sitting at my desk at 6:50pm thinking about what I like to call “Afternoon Tea”.

Anya Hindmarch recently designed a whole line of delicious clutches, hold-alls and Ebury bags. She’s included Bourbon, Custard Cream and even crisps, you know…. just a few divine pastries you’d find stacked on your Afternoon Tea cake stand.

Now I know there are no scones or gateauxs featured in the collection, but you have to admit, the craftmanship of these bags are pretty sweet (okay, okay, I’ll stop with the food references, it’s getting cheesy… Lol)!

What are your thoughts on Anya’s Autumn/Winter 2014 collection? Does it go down quite the treat or is it not your cup of tea? (Sorry, I couldn’t help myself!)

She’s also got a refreshing line of breakfast cereals including Cornflakes, Frosties and Coco-pops so really this blog post could have gone either way…. “Breakfast is served” or “Afternoon Tea Anyone?”

Being Me (Blog Tag)

Blog Tag Kehinde

I must confess, I have allocated a large portion of my day  to updating myself on the happenings in the virtual world. You see I was in dire need of  inspiration and so hit up my usual Pick Me Up(- the Blogosphere)! It was then that I quickly realised that I’d been tagged in ‘Being Me’ by Beautifully Nappy.

Thanks for the tag Missy, here goes my shot…..

Are you named after someone?

Nope. I’m a twin, so my name (Kehinde) was pretty much a given once the scan confirmed there were 2 of us.

When was the last time you cried?

Lol!!! About three weeks ago, on the phone to my sister Olaitan, I was very upset that day!

Do you have any children?

Not yet, ask me again in another 3 years.

If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?

If I was another person, I’d be my Best Friend. Lol

I love handwriting. Each person’s own is unique.

What’s your favourite cereal?

I used to loooovvvee Honey Loops and Frosties, now I love Milo cereal! Yes, I said it. I love Milo cereal!

Their style. I can’t help but notice clothes…. they’re right there.

What’s the colour of your eyes?

Deep, dark brown.

Happy Endings all day everyday. I’m all about the Fairy Tales.

Favourite TV show?

Presently, I’m addicted to House of Cards. But I also LOVE The Good Wife (Taiwo did this to me).

Always the Summer. This is why I love Nigeria.

Hugs or Kisses?

Can I be greedy and have both? If I absolutely had to choose though, it’d be hugs- big BEAR hugs that somehow end up with my feet in the air.

Special Talent

I sew. At a point, I used to make my own clothes.

Where Were You Born?

Lagos, Nigeria!!!

Hobbies?

Eating out! I don’t like food, but I’m always the first to organise some kind of breakfast, lunch or dinner date! I love the idea of dressing up and chatting with friends over fine cuisine!

I like shopping too. It’s usually window shopping though LOL. But I like shopping.

Do You Have Any Pets?

No, but I’d love a Maltese, a Parrot or/and an Orangutan… yes, I know an orangutan is not really a pet, doesn’t mean I don’t want one.

Hitch

10 Things I Hate About You

The Devil Wears Prada

Pretty Woman

What Colour is Your Car?

What Do You Want to Do When You Grow Up?

(Unfortunately,) I’m already grown up. I’m an Investment Banker by day (and sometimes night). But my ideal job would be to be a Fashion Editor at Large- like Anna Dello Russo.

5 Blogs 5 Days: Nigerian Belle

Remember my 5 Blogs 5 Days series…? Good thing you do, because unlike you, I forgot!

I’m not very good at finishing things that I start. I tend to start off on a high and then gradually, the momentum dies until things come to a gradual halt! But in my pursuit of self-improvement, I decided I’d commit more to my blog, starting with the series of 5 Blogs 5 Days.

Today’s post is about one of my favourite blogs- Nigerian Belle. Below are a number of reasons I love Nigerian Belle:

1. Nigerian Belle is written by one of my favourite Nigerian Fashion Designers-Damola of House 38- and the blog in itself, is a promotion of Nigerian Fashion brands. I’ve been trying to ‘Buy Nigerian’ more and this blog updates me on affordable designer brands and items to purchase.

2.Nigerian Belle takes you through the daily adventures of the writer from the mysteries of her top drawer, to cross border trips to the likes of Ghana and Dubai.

3. The blog has a clean look with no distracting backgrounds or jarring colours. Simplicity is always key for me.

Hope you like as much as I do.

xXx

Ps: I want to write about 2 more Blogs. Can it be 6 days 6 blogs instead of 5? Lol

Eugene

Remember my post The Spider King’s Daughter? Well, lo and behold, I spotted the object of my desire at Terra Kulture last Tuesday and just HAD to buy. I was going to give her a Nigerian name seeing as she’s the Nigerian interpretation of the Pandora, but Taiwo classed that too cliche and so we went with Eugene. Uncommon yet precious.

No. She’s no Charlotte Olympia, but she sure as hell will do! Hope you like as much as I do.

Ps: Eugene comes with two ankara purses AND a chain strap. Can you say BARGAIN?

PPs: Does anyone know the designer?

PPs: Have you spotted my shellac nails? I’m thinking I should do a post on them.

5 Blogs 5 Days: Fashions Fade, Style is Eternal

I love Pinterest because it allows me to discover so many new things with very little effort. One of my first Pinterest discoveries (and instant obsession) has got to be Atlantic-Pacific (“AP”). Below are three reasons why:

1. The Atlantic Pacific blog is solely a style blog and I must confess I have a style crush on the author Blaire Eadie. Not every outfit is to my taste (I veer as far away as possible from ripped jeans and sweat shirts), nevertheless; her style is original and unique to her, it’s modern with a twinge of vintage and it’s relevant to her location and the changing seasons. What more could one ask for?

2. The AP blog is very visual. Who needs writing when pictures scream a thousand words? The image quality is also as good as professional.

3. Now this point, I’ll have to give to Wura (my sister), because she pointed it out as I shared this blog with her. She repeats her clothes!!! Most people these days are of the impression that clothes should be worn once and from then on damned into eternal flames. Come off it! Money doesn’t grow on trees. People spend so much on clothes because they should be durable and (as much as possible) they should be timeless. How else will we ever get vintage clothes?

Well there you have it. So far I’ve written a blog on Hair, Beauty and Fashion. I bet you’re wondering what’s up next. You’ll have to visit BV same time tomorrow to find out……

AP

Ps: This is the first time I have referred to my blog as BV. I think I like it. Might do this more often…..

PPs: It’s FRRRRRIIIIIDDDDAAAAAAAYYYYYYY 🙂
