Wrist Candy

Last weekend left me home alone as everyone else got on with their interesting lives. Armed with a laptop and unlimited internet access I began viewing numerous fashion and lifestyle blogs.

To avoid my usual ramblings lets just say thanks to this blog, I learnt to make friendship bracelets and made about 5 (2 of which Taiwo bullied me into giving her).

I particularly love this first picture because everything was hand made. I made the friendship bracelets and my mum made me the beads. I just might be getting her to make me some more 😀

The Girl in The Blue Skirt

A couple of weeks ago, I was out shopping at Zara and fell in love with a midi, dodger blue pleated skirt. As it sat on the mannequin’s waist with the wind enabling the Marylin Monroe effect it became clear to me. I had to have it. I picked the smallest size I could find and headed straight for the dressing room, but to my detriment even that was too big for my bony waist.

A couple of weeks on and my sister-Gbonju (remember the one from 2 posts ago?)- is sporting the skirt of my pleated fantasy with a plain black tee, a pair of coral KG’s and a DP bag. You have to admit, she’s quite the hottie.

Diving In

Undoubtedly, every summer demands a new bikini and this year I’ve been obsessing over two very unique collections.

Jason Wu’s Resort 2012 collection reveals his dive into the deep end with his neon-coloured debut pieces. The dark outlines exaggerate feminine silhouettes with the highlighted hues emphasising a pop! Love, love love these pieces.

My second and favourite swimwear obsession has got to be Mara Hoffman’s Resort Swim 2011 Runway. These beautiful indigenous prints take us on an ethical journey of bohemian creativity, they’re amazing. Here are my favourites of the lot. Hope you’re loving these as much as I am…. they’re genius!

Every Cloud has a Silver Lining

Yesterday was my mum’s birthday and to mark the big one, we headed to London to celebrate. I’d initially planned to don this season’s colour blocks- tangerine orange and emerald green to be specific- however, upon arrival at Zara, they were all out of the emerald green blazer of my rainbow fantasy and I was subjected to the thing I hate the most- compromise.

Oh well, you know what they say, “every cloud has a silver lining” and indeed my cloud was no different. As I drooled over bags in Selfridges, I was stopped by their fashion bloggers who were loving my outfit. A couple of pictures and a few impromptu poses later, I was off again and my pictures should be on the Selfridges blog soon (I’ll post the link as soon as they’re uploaded). Fingers crossed they’ll be decent photos and not the usual shrek-like pictures I’m haunted by.

How sexy does Gbonju look? She normally hates her photo’s but I think this one’s a hit so here we are 🙂

“….Summer Garden in Rainbow clouds”

Name: Summer

Profile: You best believe she’s sexy!!! Summer’s that fire that turns heads when she stomps into a room. She’s loved by many and envied by more. Summer is and will remain uncontested…. she’s the hottest of them all.

Scene 1: The occupied sidewalks of fashions capital cities are engulfed by Summer’s electric blues, tangerine oranges, hot pinks and pristine whites. This season, Summer is loving her colour blocks and feeding her style addiction are the likes of Gucci, Lanvin and none other than Victoria Beckham.

Scene 2: Summer pulls off country side chic in a whimsically bizarre way. There’s a bit of a fruit explosion in the meadows as nature bursts out. The infamous banana prints of Prada have got to be the fuel to this fire as the likes of Anna Wintour have impressed stamps of approval all over this one.

Scene 3: Despite her past with the somewhat provocative bum shorts and mini skirts, summer has turned a new leaf this season with midi’s and maxi’s infiltrating the runways. The likes of Lanvin, Jil Sander and Erdem are the geniuses behind Summer’s midi’s and maxi’s.

I am particularly loving this trend and currently in search of the perfect pleated mid length skirt to complete my summer look 🙂

The Show: Dolls House

Saturday evening, gave Sumbo and I an excuse to get all dolled up. “The Show: Dolls House” was on at the Bullring and we seized the opportunity to unleash our inner fashionista’s. As we walked in dressed the part of top celebrities, we occupied the front row seats Sumbo had reserved us.

The show began at 7 and we were greeted by what I’d describe as a Spring Medusa before being introduced to the first of seven amazing Summer Trends. I’ve never been good at editing pictures as I always want to upload them all, so feel free to wonder through my endless gallery.

Melissa

In honour of my graduation in just over a month, I have been rewarded a precious pair of Vivienne Westwood rubber ‘Melissa’ pumps. These little angels have had me in awe since I first spotted them on my friend (and fashion aficionado) Kelly Nguyen.

I’m sure many will agree that these cuties could perhaps be deemed a reflection of my ditzy yet chic personality and consequently, they have sky rocketed as my favourite pair of shoes.

Feast your eyes on my candy coloured sweeties and do share if ever you’ve been as infatuated with shoes as I am with these.
