Toshade: Garden Collection

March 22 marked the beautiful Traditional ceremony of my Sister Olaitan and her husband, Dipo. As expected, Toshade made pretty much all the jewellery and she did an amazing job!

1. Roses are Red: Using red corals of different sizes, shapes and textures, Toshade created a chunky and twisted ‘Mother of the Bride’ number finished with 24 carat gold  toppings and swarovski crystals strategically placed to catch the sunshine of the outdoor event.

2. Forget Me Not: Just like the flower, these chipped beads are blue and pink with dainty, bronze beads separating each chip. Each string swings nonchalantly with the movement of the wearer in a contagious yet classy manner.

3. Baby Blue Eyes: These textured, sugar beads are separated by a trio of gunmetal grey seed beads locked in at each edge with matching spacer bars. Simple, yet captivating the strings are finished with a turquoise and blue clasp.

4. Last and definitely not the least is my Pink Hibiscus: About 30 strands of seed beads strung in varying lengths and neatly twisted into a solid rope. Pink Hibiscus was finished with silver cones, large pink beads and my favourite finish… a hand made hook.

Below are pictures of the Garden inspired wedding collection. Just like the outdoor ceremony, it was quite the breath of fresh air. Hope you like….

Toshade Christmas…

Christmas is my favourite time of the year. Personally, it beats Easter, the Summer and yes, it even beats Birthdays! Unfortunately, this Christmas will differ from the norm as my family won’t be together (*wails*) nevertheless, we’ll celebrate Jesus and the joy of Christmas shan’t be lost.

As Christmas shopping should be in full swing, it dawned on me that there couldn’t be a better time to market TOSHADE jewellery. Therefore, as you can see below, I have uploaded pictures of some of my favourite pieces from TOSHADE…. Beaded creativity for the simple yet stylish!

Ps: I’ve started exfoliating my lips… save that for the next post maybe?

And the winner is…

Thanks so much to everyone that participated in my Giveaway. I have used Random.org to generate a winner and excluded ‘Ola F’ from the competition seeing as she’s my sister. As there were 7 comments (that qualified for the giveaway), I put in a maximum number of 7 and the Result was ‘7’ concluding on Sumbo as the winner.

Congratulations Sumbo, your House 38 blouse will be on it’s way to you shortly.

Second giveaway will be a one of a kind necklace which I have designed and am having Toshade make for it me.

Have a blessed Sunday everyone.

xXx

Ps: I’ve got my ‘fro out today. Whoop!

Arise

Last week Saturday brought a fresh bout of depression on my weekend. I’d mapped out a two-day strategy involving taking charge of the fashion empire and maybe even conquering the world, yet somehow, favour appeared to have ditched my right hand side and friendship no longer felt like a cushion.

Arise Fashion week was in Lagos and I missed the entirety of its Saturday show thanks to a few hiccups coupled with the manic traffic that constantly engulfs Lagos.

Sunday night had to be different! I attended the finale ALONE and encapsulated each awaking moment in the joy of my own company. In all honesty, the Sunday night show fell short of my tall expectations with the Okunoren twins being my personal highlight. However, my judgement might have been slightly flawed seeing as I missed the beginning and missed out on the end too.

Nonetheless, as my Dad’s driver pulled up outside the front door with me in the passenger’s seat, a glimmer of satisfaction washed over my face. I was pleased just to have made it to the show. I always like to form my own opinion on certain situations.

Below are pictures of what I wore. Pictures of the show coming soon…..

Toshade

Toshade is a handcrafted beading business founded in Lagos, Nigeria. Using sugar beads, corals, precious stones and seed beads, the designer discovers an artistic flair she never recognised within her.

This designer happens to be my Mum and seeing as she’s refused to properly launch or publicise Toshade, I’ve taken it upon myself to do just that. I’ve been creating a catalogue of all of her creations and below are a few pieces I’ve selected to display her versatility.

From the simplistic bead stringing to the more intricate bead-weaving she explores numerous ways of manipulating beads, creating new outcomes such as her beaded links.

I’m sure you’ll like them 😉
