Hopelessly in Lust

I’ve never really been a “shoe person”…. footwear was just never ever my thing. I could stare at a dress for seconds and instantaneously spot a loose thread, a wonky stitch or an uneven hemline. But when it came to shoes, I never quite understood the art. You see, my subconscious mind had me thinking confidence was something that was up in the sky, not down on your feet. Little did I know that the spring in your step resonates right from the soles of your feet to the twinkle in your eye.

Recently, I’ve noticed an increased allocation of my (window) shopping time has been apportioned to shoes… heels in particular, not just any footwear and I must say…. I like it! I’m not quite the expert (yet), so I still can’t tell when I need insoles from when I need gel arch inserts but who knows, in no time I might be the next Carrie Bradshaw.

Below is a diary of my shoe lust list. Shoe aficionados, your thoughts please!

Arise

Last week Saturday brought a fresh bout of depression on my weekend. I’d mapped out a two-day strategy involving taking charge of the fashion empire and maybe even conquering the world, yet somehow, favour appeared to have ditched my right hand side and friendship no longer felt like a cushion.

Arise Fashion week was in Lagos and I missed the entirety of its Saturday show thanks to a few hiccups coupled with the manic traffic that constantly engulfs Lagos.

Sunday night had to be different! I attended the finale ALONE and encapsulated each awaking moment in the joy of my own company. In all honesty, the Sunday night show fell short of my tall expectations with the Okunoren twins being my personal highlight. However, my judgement might have been slightly flawed seeing as I missed the beginning and missed out on the end too.

Nonetheless, as my Dad’s driver pulled up outside the front door with me in the passenger’s seat, a glimmer of satisfaction washed over my face. I was pleased just to have made it to the show. I always like to form my own opinion on certain situations.

Below are pictures of what I wore. Pictures of the show coming soon…..

The Girl in The Blue Skirt

A couple of weeks ago, I was out shopping at Zara and fell in love with a midi, dodger blue pleated skirt. As it sat on the mannequin’s waist with the wind enabling the Marylin Monroe effect it became clear to me. I had to have it. I picked the smallest size I could find and headed straight for the dressing room, but to my detriment even that was too big for my bony waist.

A couple of weeks on and my sister-Gbonju (remember the one from 2 posts ago?)- is sporting the skirt of my pleated fantasy with a plain black tee, a pair of coral KG’s and a DP bag. You have to admit, she’s quite the hottie.
